A British girl 13 years old, suffering from leukemia, Hannah Jones decided to refuse to have a heart transplant for her heart condition – a hole in her heart.

Hannah Jones has won the right to die after she was taken to court by her local hospital in an attempt to force her to have a heart transplant against her wishes. She wanted to die with dignity but child protection officers were drafted in and threatened to remove her from her parents’ custody to force her to undergo surgery. British courts ruled in her favor.

Hannah Jones reached the decision after becoming aware that the operation did not come with the promise of curing her condition, and could potentially lead to immediate death and further health complications down the road. She has spent years battling leukemia.

Hannah’s father stated “We were as low as it’s possible to get, but I just didn’t feel able to influence her. My wife and I agreed that whatever Hannah wanted, we would support her.”

The grandfather of Hannah Jones has backed her decision also. Mr Jones said he understood why his granddaughter had taken her decision and was not surprised by her maturity, reported by BBC.
