Eight more H1N1 flu deaths, toll reaches 359 in India

Influenza A H1N1 claimed eight more lives across the country raising the total number of deaths to 359 till now. And 185 fresh H1N1 flu cases have been reported, reaching to 11253 positive cases of swine flu in India.

On 5th_October 2009, 45196 passengers have been screened at 22 Airports in India with 83 counters manned by 225 doctors and 172 paramedics. Total passengers screened till date is 6788208. Till date, samples from 47145 persons have been tested for Influenza A H1N1 in Government Laboratories and a few private Laboratories across the country and 11253 (23.8%) of them have been found positive. Of the 185 cases reported during the day; all are indigenous cases.

Four deaths have been reported during the day (Andhra Pradesh 1, Maharashtra 2 and Gujarat 1). Laboratory confirmation of 1 death from Andhra Pradesh, 2 from Maharashtra and 1 from Karnataka have been received from the respective State Health departments, and are now reflected in the cumulative total.

8 students of Shikshantar school in Gurgaon (South City) tested positive for H1N1. The Shikshantar school authorities said that students are undergoing treatment and are recovering.
