More cases of hepatitis D reported from Sabarkantha in Gujrat

Nearly dozen fresh cases of Hepatitis-D were reported from 3 different blocks of Sabarkantha district in Gujrat, where the liver disease has claimed 57 lives.

No deaths were reported today but the fresh cases were reported from Idar, Modassa and Meghrak.

8 cases of hepatitis were reported from Idar, 3 from Modassa and 1 from Meghrak, as confirmed by Chief District Health Officer(CDHO) Sabarkantha – H S Patel.

First round of vaccination has been completed in the blocks, worst affected due to the outbreak of hepatitis, and we are gearing up to start the second round, which is scheduled within 15 days.

It has been more than three weeks now that hepatitis-D outbreak was first reported from Modassa taluka, of Sabarkantha, but fresh cases kept pouring intermittently from the district, as reported by PTI.
