Health experts are warning of a potential tripledemic this winter, with the seasonal flu, RSV and COVID on track to surge all at the same time. Now, add in the holiday gatherings and the fear increases that there would be a massive transmission of tripledemic.

This trio of viral threats includes respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), influenza (flu), and COVID-19.

Many children’s hospitals across the country are already experiencing a surge, fueled by a spike in respiratory viruses, leaving them with no free beds.

This rise in cases and hospitalizations is especially worrisome as we move into the winter months when more people are assembling indoors with less ventilation,” said CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky.

Vaccination will be key to getting through the winter holidays with your health intact, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said.

How to mitigate the risk of getting (or spreading) tripledemic :

Stay home if you’re sick
Consider quarantining
Be up to date on vaccines
Self-test
Mask up
Wash up

The holidays are a famously hectic time, where stress — and viruses — are often at an all-time high. Keeping a consistent, healthy lifestyle is crucial to supporting your immune system.

Regular exercise, a healthy diet and plenty of rest will arm your body to be its strongest when needing to fight off a virus.
